How are scans delivered to me?

All scans are delivered via Dropbox to the email provided in your order.

What makes a Gelatin Labs film scan so special?

Our scans adapt to you, and not the other way around. We provide BIG FLAT scans that you'll love.

I have already developed negatives. Can you scan them?

If you have negatives that are already developed, you can send those to us for scanning.

What equipment do you use to scan my film?

For 35mm film, we use a Noritsu LS-600 autofeed scanner running EZ Controller.

What are your turnaround times for scans?

Color Film: 24-48 hours, Black+White: 7-10 business days.

Can you scan with film borders included?

At this time, we cannot scan with film borders included.

What resolution are your scans?

Included: 3024 x 2005, Upgraded: 6048×4011

Can you scan Half-Frame or Panoramic film?

Yes, and you can select those scans during the order process.

How do I drop-off my film?

1. Place your film order on gelatinlabs.com – select ‘Ship Negatives’ to get negatives returned (and prints, if you ordered them).

2. Our box is located near the exit of the coffee shop. Take an envelope (or your own ziploc), bag up your film, and write your order number. Your film will head to Gelatin Labs!

1. At the front entrance, buzz in to be let inside.

2. The Gelatin drop-off box is directly across from the front desk. Place your order via the QR code on the box. Select ‘Ship Negatives’ to get negatives (and prints, if you ordered them) returned.

3. Take an envelope (or your own ziploc) from the front desk, bag up your film, and write your order number. Your film will head to Gelatin Labs!

What is a contact sheet?

  • A contact sheet is a photographic overview of your entire film roll, typically made in a darkroom on light-sensitive paper. At Gelatin Labs, we cut and sleeve your roll into strips of six frames for 35mm, and varying length for other formats. We scan the entire sleeved roll with a high resolution flatbed scanner. Great for keeping your images organized and keeping track of exposures at a glance.
