Slide film has little exposure latitude. Meter carefully and protect your highlights. Development and scanning are purchased separately.
A photograph you can hold up to the light.
Kodak Ektachrome E100 is slide film, and it works differently from everything else on this page. Instead of a negative you get a positive transparency, a finished image on the film itself, which is a genuinely different object to hold.
On a 120 frame the effect is hard to overstate. Grain is extremely fine, sharpness is excellent, and the colour is clean and neutral rather than pushed, with none of the warm cast most colour negative films carry.
The discipline it demands is exposure. Slide film has narrow latitude and will not rescue a blown highlight, so meter deliberately and err toward protecting the bright end. Get it right and nothing else looks like it. Note that this runs in E-6 chemistry, not C-41. We process E-6 in house.
