The people’s film.
Kodak Gold 200 in 35mm has probably taken more photographs than any other colour film in history, and it remains one of the best value rolls you can buy. Rated at ISO 200 and built for daylight.
Its character is warmth. Golds and reds come forward, greens go slightly sunny, and skin picks up a friendly glow. It is more saturated and a little more contrasty than professional films like Portra, which is exactly why it feels nostalgic rather than clinical.
Grain is fine, latitude is generous, and it is forgiving of a camera with no meter. If you are shooting film for the first time, or handing a camera to somebody who has never used one, this is the roll to load. Bright days, holidays, parties, and ordinary afternoons worth keeping.
