Portra is far happier overexposed than underexposed. When in doubt, give it more light. Development and scanning are purchased separately.
Flattering, forgiving, everywhere.
Kodak Portra 400 in 35mm is the default colour film for photographers who care how people look. Rated at ISO 400, it is fast enough for most daylight and indoor situations without giving up the fine grain that makes it worth shooting.
The colour palette is warm and restrained. Skin renders naturally across a wide range of tones, highlights fall off softly rather than blowing out, and contrast stays gentle enough that scanning has room to work with.
The latitude is the reason it is so widely loved. Overexpose it by a stop or two and it simply gets creamier. Many photographers deliberately shoot it at 200 for exactly that reason. It is a genuine do anything film for portraits, weddings, travel, and everyday carry.
