At ISO 160 this film wants good light. In dim conditions reach for Portra 400 or 800 instead. Development and scanning are purchased separately.

Kodak Portra 160 is the slow member of the Portra family, and in 120 it produces about the cleanest colour negative you can hand a scanner. This is a single roll of medium format film rated at ISO 160.

It shares Portra 400’s whole approach to colour, natural skin tones, soft contrast, gentle highlights, but trades two thirds of a stop of speed for visibly finer grain and slightly more delicate tonality. On a 6×7 negative the result is close to grainless.

The tradeoff is that it wants light. In bright daylight, in a studio with strobes, or anywhere you control the exposure, it is the better choice. In a dim room it is not. Use it for portraits, product work, landscapes, and anything you plan to print large.
