The The Gelatin Disposable Camera is a simple, reliable 35mm point-and-shoot loaded with fresh Kodak ISO 400 color negative film and built around the classic Fuji Quicksnap body.

Designed to remove friction and decision-making, it’s ready the moment you pick it up. No settings to worry about, no learning curve. Just point, shoot, and keep moving.

The ISO 400 film inside offers flexibility across a wide range of lighting conditions, from daylight to indoor scenes with flash. Grain is present but balanced, giving images a familiar, classic film look without feeling overly experimental. It’s forgiving, consistent, and well suited for everyday moments, travel, events, and hand-offs to friends.

A bright built-in flash with an always-on flash switch makes low-light shooting easy, while the back of the camera includes space to write your name or a note so it doesn’t get mixed up along the way.

When you’re finished shooting all 27 exposures, send it back to Gelatin Labs. Once returned, each camera is tested and inspected for reloading, giving it a second life after use, reducing waste and extending the usefulness of the body. With our service bundles, we’ll develop and scan the film using standard C-41 processing, then prepare the camera to be reused again in the future.

Part of the joy here is not overthinking it. Throw it in your bag, pass it around, shoot freely, and let the film do what it does best.

At Gelatin Labs, we believe an image is completed once it’s printed. Add 4×6″ prints to see your scans in the flesh. Each set contains a print of each exposed image on your roll (blank images are skipped).

Film Type

Film comes in different shapes and sizes. Match your film to the kinds listed below when ordering.

  • 35mm-1024x1024 35mm – Most common roll film, in a metal canister.
  • 138-1024x1024 Medium Format (120) – Medium format film, known for taller size and paper backing.
  • single-use camera-1024x1024 Disposable Camera – Your classic single use cam. We recycle them!
  • 137-1024x1024 110 Cartridge – A smaller film size, inside of a black plastic cartridge.
  • aps-1024x1024 APS (Advanced Photo System) – A discontinued film found in small cartridges, usually expired or shot, waiting for developing.

Process Type

There is a process required to develop each film type. Check your film roll or camera for the following markings to order the best option for your images.

  • color-1024x1024 Color (C-41) – A process that results in a color negative. (Sometimes labeled as CN-16).
  • black and white-1024x1024 Black & White – A classic process that results in a black and white negative.
  • e6-1024x1024 Color (E-6) – A process that results in a color positive that can be projected. (Also known as "Slide Film").
  • ecn2-1024x1024 Color (ECN-2) – A motion-picture process used in Hollywood, repurposed for your still photos. Processed by KODAK Film Lab Atlanta, scanned by Gelatin Labs. (Typically respooled into existing canisters or micro-brands).

We’ve created a set of unique formulas (GelForms) that unlock endless possibilities—making your photos more personal and distinctive. These are not presets, but in-scanner adjustments to get the best from your film.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose the GelForm that best fits your style and application – we apply carefully tuned formulas based on contrast and temperature. For specialty GelForms, we can also preserve details like sprockets or the rebate edge.

Each formula is unique and will render a different result. Explore the possibilities of your images by experimenting with each GelForm. (Note: Results may vary from sample images, and depend on the film stock chosen, exposure settings while shooting, and film storage).

  • develop-scan-1024x1024 DEVELOP + SCAN – What you get: Film processing and digital copies of your images. For already shot film that requires film processing. Get your images via an easy download link to your email.
  • develop-1024x1024 DEVELOP ONLY – What you get: Film processing, without digital copies. For those that scan at home and are just looking for their negatives back.
  • scan-1024x1024 SCAN ONLY – What you get: Digital copies of your already processed film. For those that want rescans of previously developed film from their archive or attic.

How do I drop off my film?

1. Place your film order on gelatinlabs.com – select ‘Return Shipping’ at checkout’ to get negatives returned (and prints, if you ordered them).

2. Envelopes for your order are provided over the counter. Write your name and order number, and load film rolls inside.

3. Hand over your envelope to a Knickerbocker team member.

Your film will head to Gelatin Labs every Monday and Thursday!

How do I drop-off my film?

1. At the front entrance, buzz in to be let inside.

2. The Gelatin drop-off box is directly across from the front desk. Place your order via the QR code on the box. Select ‘Ship Negatives’ to get negatives (and prints, if you ordered them) returned.

3. Take an envelope (or your own ziploc) from the front desk, bag up your film, and write your order number. Your film will head to Gelatin Labs!

Jump the developing line and receive your scans as soon as possible. We start your order immediately, and work to get it out the door within one business day. Estimates guaranteed.

(Note: Deliverables like prints and contact sheets are not covered by Fast Pass. Only digital scans are guaranteed.)

For those not on a deadline, we process in the order we receive your film. Estimates are updated to reflect the current average time from “order start” to “order finish”. Flexible estimates are not guaranteed.

Order size and options chosen may affect turnaround time. Lots of film? Expect a longer lead time.

    Developing film for a shorter time, which can help recover some detail in pictures that turned out too bright. However, this technique is less common for color negative film and may not always be necessary.

Contact Sheet

  • A contact sheet is a photographic overview of your entire film roll. First, we cut and sleeve your roll in PrintFile sleeving.

    We scan the entire sleeved roll with a high resolution flatbed scanner. This hi-res, single-image overview allows you to quickly view and assess all photos for easy selection and sharing.
