The look everyone is copying.
Kodak Tri-X 400 is the film that shaped how we picture the twentieth century, and in 120 you get it on a negative large enough to show exactly why. This is a single roll of medium format Tri-X, rated at ISO 400.
Where Ilford HP5 Plus is gentle and forgiving, Tri-X is more assertive. Contrast is punchier, blacks sit deeper, and the grain is crisp and clearly defined rather than soft. It is a film with an opinion, which is precisely what people want from it.
It pushes exceptionally well, and pushed Tri-X at 1600 is a genuine aesthetic rather than a compromise. Use it for portraits with bite, documentary work, and any scene where you want the frame to feel like it means something. We process black and white in house.
