The one that never lets you down.
Ilford HP5 Plus 400 in 35mm is the black and white workhorse that has been in photographers’ bags for decades, and the reason is simple. It is fast enough for handheld shooting almost anywhere, and it forgives the mistakes you make while you are moving.
Rated at ISO 400, it gives medium contrast, honest mid tones, and a textured grain that reads as classic rather than dated. The exposure latitude is genuinely wide, so a frame you guessed at usually still holds together. Push it to 800 or 1600 when the light drops and the grain gets more assertive without the image falling apart.
This is the film for street work, concerts, bars, travel, and anything happening faster than you can meter. Shoot it, send it back, and we will develop and scan it in house.
