CineStill BwXX is Eastman Double-X 5222, a black and white motion picture stock that has been in continuous production since 1959 and has shot a long list of films you have seen. CineStill respools it for 35mm still cameras.
It does not look like modern black and white film, and that is the appeal. Grain is present and silvery, contrast is moderate with a long gentle tonal scale, and highlights roll off in a way that reads as cinematic rather than clinical. Skin renders beautifully.
Rate it around 250 in daylight or 200 under tungsten, and it pushes well into low light if you need it. This is a film for people who want the look of a black and white feature rather than the look of a photograph. We process black and white in house.
