Mail-In Film Developing

Ship your film from anywhere.

No lab nearby? Mail your film directly to our Maplewood, NJ headquarters for professional developing and scanning. We process 35mm, 120, disposable cameras, and sheet film in C-41, B&W, E-6, and ECN-2.

How to mail in your film

  1. Place your order online

Choose your developing and scanning options through our film services page. Select the number of rolls, film type, and scan resolution. You'll receive an order number to include with your package.

  2. Pack your film securely

Place your rolls in a ziploc bag with a note including your name and order number. Seal everything inside a padded bubble mailer or small box. No special packaging needed — just make sure the film can't move around in transit.

  3. Ship to our lab

Send your package via USPS, UPS, or FedEx. We recommend USPS Ground Advantage for the best balance of cost and speed. You can also purchase a prepaid mailing label from us that fits up to 4 rolls.

  4. We process and deliver your scans

Every roll is logged when it arrives. You'll get email updates as your film moves through developing and scanning. High-resolution digital scans are delivered via your online gallery.

Packing and shipping tips

  • Include your order info. Write your name and order number on a piece of paper and tuck it inside the bag with your film. This is how we match your package to your order.

  • Use a ziploc bag. Group your rolls together in a sealed plastic bag. This protects against moisture if the mailer is damaged in transit.

  • Padded mailer or box. A standard bubble mailer works great for up to 4 rolls. For larger orders, use a small box with some padding so the film doesn't shift around.

  • Avoid extreme heat. If you're shipping during summer months, choose a faster shipping method to minimize time sitting in hot trucks. Film is resilient but prolonged heat isn't ideal.

  • Disposable cameras. You can mail these in as-is. No need to remove the film yourself — we handle that in the lab.

  • Skip the stamps and paper envelopes. Regular paper mail envelopes tear easily and don't protect your film. Always use a padded bubble mailer or box, and ship with a carrier label — not stamps.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — place your order on our website first so we can match your package when it arrives. Include your name and order number with the film. If you forget, we'll still process your film, but it may take a bit longer to match everything up.
USPS Ground Advantage is typically the most affordable option for domestic shipments. You can also grab one of our prepaid mailing labels ($6.49) which covers up to 4 rolls via USPS — just print it out and drop your package in any USPS package dropbox. No waiting in line.
Standard USPS and carrier sorting facilities use X-ray machines, but the doses are much lower than airport CT scanners and generally safe for film under ISO 800. For high-speed or very expired film, consider using a lead-lined bag or requesting hand inspection if you're dropping off in person.
With Fast Pass, your order is prioritized and processed within 3 business days of arrival. Flexible turnaround varies based on current volume — the live estimate is shown at the top of our ordering page. Certain scan options and film types may take longer depending on the workflow involved.
Yes, we always return your negatives. They're sleeved and shipped back to you once processing is complete. You'll receive tracking info for the return shipment.
Absolutely. Send the whole camera — no need to crack it open yourself. We extract the film in our lab and process it like any other roll. Just make sure to pack it securely so it doesn't bounce around in the mailer.

A GelForm is a thoughtfully crafted balance of temperature and contrast—bundling them into distinct looks that are both intuitive and reliable. Whether you prefer a clean, true-to-film rendering, a punchy high-contrast feel, or something with a bit more warmth or coolness, there’s a GelForm that fits your style.

We’ve created a set of unique formulas (GelForms) that unlock endless possibilities—making your photos more personal and distinctive. These are not presets, but in-scanner adjustments to get the best from your film.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose the GelForm that best fits your style and application – we apply carefully tuned formulas based on contrast and temperature. For specialty GelForms, we can also preserve details like sprockets or the rebate edge.

Each formula is unique and will render a different result. Explore the possibilities of your images by experimenting with each GelForm. (Note: Results may vary from sample images, and depend on the film stock chosen, exposure settings while shooting, and film storage).

SCANNER INFO

Each GelForm is made possible by professional film scanners that evoke different styles. To understand which GelForm relates to each scanner, refer to the table below.
